adverse conditions, have kept the city moving for nearly seven decades. And above all, OASTH was and remains its very passengers.
Over the course of these nearly seven decades, the Or- ganisation has been called upon to meet unprecedented challenges. It has gone through periods of crisis, chang- es in ownership, and rapid urban expansion. However, its core mission has remained unchanged: to provide a pub- lic good that ensures the right to mobility for all, with- out exception.
However, history is not merely a record of the past; it is the foundation upon which we build not only the present, but also the future. Having gone through many tribula- tions and great challenges, the OASTH is now in its most creative phase: it is regenerating, modernising, evolving, and growing stronger.
With the advent of electric mobility, the adoption of digital technologies in serving the public, and our seam- less collaboration with the Metro, we are transforming into a European sustainable organisation providing up- to-date, faster, and safer transportation. Our goal is an OASTH that does not merely follow developments, but leads and shapes them.
This volume is dedicated to all those who have worked tokeeptheOrganisationafloatduringdifficulttimes,as well as to the people of Thessaloniki who trust us eve- ry day. The photographs and documents it contains are our legacy; they are proof that, despite the difficulties, the OASTH was, is, and will remain the heart of Thessa- loniki transportation.
I invite you to discover this fascinating journey, which is an integral part of Thessaloniki’s history.
